Viral Video Shows Final Seconds Before Brazilian Woman’s Fatal Bridge Jump

Posted on June 15, 2026 By newsful 365

Two men in white helmets hoist a 21-year-old woman onto their shoulders, swing her toward the edge of an abandoned bridge, and launch her into a 130-foot drop. She is not attached to anything.
That video, now viewed millions of times, captures the final moments of Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, who died Saturday during a rope-jumping outing at “Ponte do Esqueleto” — Skeleton Bridge — in Limeira, in Brazil’s São Paulo state.
A Chilling Final Post
Hours before the jump, de Freitas posted excitedly about the activity on social media. Just before she was thrown, she captioned a photo of the event’s banner with a line that now reads as eerily prophetic: “Who was the crazy person who let me come jump off a bridge???”
She had a degree in physical education and sports management and reportedly hoped to become a PE teacher, according to multiple outlets.
Seconds That Changed Everything
Rope jumping differs from traditional bungee jumping. Instead of an elastic cord that bounces, a climbing-style rope is meant to stop the fall and swing the jumper in a controlled pendulum motion. De Freitas had asked to be launched “airplane style,” arms outstretched, lifted by two instructors.
In the video, onlookers can be heard screaming that the rope hadn’t been attached as she went over the edge. She fell roughly 40 meters — about 130 feet — suffering multiple fractures. Emergency medical crews pronounced her dead at the scene.
No Permit, No Oversight
According to São Paulo police, the group running the event, identified as “Entre Cordas,” was operating without proper authorization. Investigators say the failure to verify her safety line before launch led directly to her death.
Three men involved with the operation — Luis Felipe Feliciano Egoroff, 32; Vitor de Freitas Gonçalves, 27; and Maicon Fernandes Cintra, 42 — were arrested and now face charges of homicide with implied malice, a charge applied when someone knowingly takes a risk that results in death. All three were ordered held in preventive detention following a custody hearing Sunday.
Police also noted the bridge has a troubled history, including a cyclist’s earlier death and prior failed jumps, though officials called the circumstances of this case unprecedented.
What We Know

Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, 21, died Saturday during a rope-jumping event at Skeleton Bridge in Limeira, São Paulo.
She was launched roughly 130 feet without a safety rope attached, video shows.
Three men face homicide charges and remain in preventive detention.
The operating group reportedly had no authorization to run the event.
She was buried Sunday in São Paulo state.

Why This Matters
Adventure tourism — bungee jumping, rope swings, zip-lining — draws huge crowds of thrill-seekers, including American tourists traveling abroad each year. This case is a stark reminder that “extreme” activities are only as safe as the operators running them, and that unregulated companies can slip through with little to no government oversight.
For families, it taps into a universal fear: a loved one excited for an adventure, documenting the moment online, never imagining it would be their last.
According to UNILAD, the company behind the jump had several more dates advertised in the weeks following the tragedy — a detail that’s likely to fuel renewed scrutiny over how easily unverified operators can keep running high-risk activities for paying customers.
