Brittany Clark, a 31-year-old Orlando resident, was enjoying a day outdoors with her boyfriend and her best friend at the Little Big Econ State Forest near Geneva, Florida. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the group had been hiking near the Econlockhatchee River when they decided to cool off in the water.
They were in only about three feet of water when a massive alligator suddenly emerged, launching an unprovoked attack on Clark.
A Desperate Battle for Survival
The attack unfolded with terrifying speed. As the predator clamped onto both of Clark’s arms, her boyfriend immediately sprang into action. According to FWC officials, he physically engaged with the animal, desperately trying to pull her from its jaws.
While the boyfriend succeeded in getting the alligator to release its grip, the injuries sustained were catastrophic. A frantic 911 call captured the sheer chaos of the moment, with the caller pleading for help while describing the severe nature of the victim’s wounds to dispatchers. Despite the boyfriend’s heroic attempts to save her and the arrival of emergency responders, Clark succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the hospital.
